This how-to is written from the perspective of a Windows 2000 or Windows XP user connecting to an SME/E-smith server running in gateway mode.
1) Create a new connection:
2) Wizardry -- Just fill in the details such as server IP and other questions it asks:
3) After giving the connection a memorable name, launch the [Start] --> Settings --> Network and Dial-up Connections --> YourConnection with the SME/E-smith Username and Password:
4) When connected, a new connection icon will appear in the tray:
5) Check the connection with "ipconfig" on the Windows end:
6) Check the connection with a "ping" on the SME/E-smith end:
7) From a browser, type the \\servername\username and you should see the home directory.
